Blogs i write are mostly related to OSRC in one way or another, may it be a user manual, tutorial or something interesting for the reader. Since i developed the OSRC system, naturally writing information about it is my main priority. However now and then i do tend to write my own thoughts about other topics, related to technology.

Once in the Model Settings, a list of available models shall be presented. To Select a model from the list, use the Enter function. To edit a model, use the Select function.

To delete a model use the Delete function and to add a new model, naturally use the Add function. Note that only the selected model shall be altered.

Please read the below descriptions carefully before making alterations to your setup.

Model Settings

The Model Settings menu consists of 2 pages, with 5 options on each one. Below you shall find the description for each page.

Name

To properly name your model use the Select function and alter the text as described in the User Settings section. The name of the model shall be displayed not only on the available Display Screens, but also on the Friend Lists of other operators that would want to interlink with you.

Type

Each model type has different interface options through out the entire OSRC User Interface. Select the appropriate one based on the available options below:

Type NameType Description
PlaneThis type is usually selected for Air Plane models and other models with a Fixed Wing design.
HeliThis type is usually selected for Helicopter models.
CarThis type is usually selected for vehicles that run on wheels. It can be Cars, Trucks or other models with wheels.
BoatThis type is usually selected for Boats and marine related models.
UAVThis type is usually selected for Unmanned Aerial Vehicles which could be Planes, Helicopters or Multi-Rotor models.
RobotThis type is usually selected for models that are Robotic in nature. The model can be a biped robot, wheel based robot or a wrestling robot.
DIYThis type is usually selected for models that do not fall under any other category and are mostly self made.

RF Type

The RF Type option defines what RF setup will be used for the particular model. Below you will find all available options to choose from with their description:

Type NameType Description
OSRC0This option indicates that there are no available RF communications. Specifically useful when operating the 3D Simulations or other application on-board the FPVC Advanced module.
OSRC1This option indicates that the selected RF module shall be the Primary RF modem on-board the Main Unit.
OSRC2This option indicates that the selected RF module shall be the Secondary RF modem on-board the Main Unit.
FuThis option indicates that the selected RF module shall be the one connected to the Futaba type RF Compartment.
HiThis option indicates that the selected RF module shall be the one connected to the HiTec type RF Compartment.
JRThis option indicates that the selected RF module shall be the one connected to the JR type RF Compartment.

SensorM - Sensor Module

By selecting Yes or No, you can define the availability of the Sensor Module, on-board the Model Controller (If OSRC Equipment is used). This option also enables other features within the OSRC functionality and gives more control as well as reliability to your setup.

FpvM - FPV Module

By selecting Yes or No, you can define the availability of the FPV Module, if connected to the Model Controller (If OSRC Equipment is used). This option also enables other features within the OSRC functionality and unlocks FPV related features within the User Interface.

RT-ChanN - Real Time Channel Count

This option enables the operator to select the number of channels he/she prefers to have for the specific model. The number of channels depends firstly on the needs of the operator and secondly on the available Model Controller or PPM Receiver unit. The channel count although can be as large as needed, is limited to 16 channels for the PPM Receiver & Module units and up to 40 for the OSRC Equipment.

Chan-Min & Chan-Max - Channel Absolute Minimum Value

Due to the versatile nature of the OSRC system, the operator is given the ability to interconnect different RF equipment to the system. Since different manufacturers use different configurations, we give the option to fine tune the End values for all channels related to a model.

The numbers are displayed from 70 to 210, however in reality the system shall multiply these numbers by 10 to achieve the correct maximum value.

The simplest way to trim these values is to connect a Servo Motor to the selected Model Controller or PPM Receiver and by holding any stick or switch at its Maximum and/or Minimum positions to alter the value. While the value is being altered you should see in Real Time the motor to rotate to its Minimum or Maximum position. Once the motor performs a sudden motion from that position, your value is too low or too high and should be adjusted accordingly.

Tog. Div - Toggle Divider

The entire OSRC system is based on the flexibility and modularity of its design. One of the features OSRC can provide, is to not only create an ON or OFF action when a switch or a trigger is enabled, but to toggle through different values by using the switch or button multiple times. This can become quite useful when a Switching action is required to alter Flight Modes, change multiple times from the same switch a channel value and other actions.

Within the Switch Assignments you shall find the option to alter the amount of Virtual Positions a switch or a button might have. These positions are defined by the Dividing factor in the setting. For example if you need 6 positions then your Divider would be 3 (3 from one side and 3 from the other).

The option in this menu enables you to set the Maximum divisions a switch or a button may have. This will be the limit for all other settings related to dividing a switch or a button value.

Reset Model

By selecting this option, all settings withing the Model options shall be reset to factory defaults. If you for some reason need to reset a model then this option should become quite useful.

Have been working with electronics for as long as i can remember. Always enjoyed making something new and having the pleasure of seeing it work at the end. One of my latest and i must say, greatest creations is OSRC - Open Source Remote Control. Finally i can work on a single project, devote my full attention towards it and improve it as much as possible, with help from the RC and general Open Source community.
