Blogs i write are mostly related to OSRC in one way or another, may it be a user manual, tutorial or something interesting for the reader. Since i developed the OSRC system, naturally writing information about it is my main priority. However now and then i do tend to write my own thoughts about other topics, related to technology.

Αναρτήθηκε από σε σε Root Menu

Anything and everything related to global Main Unit settings can be found in this section. Alter the Default Home Screen, channel absolute values, channel count and many other features which fall under this category.

The General Settings menu is where you will find options that do not fit into any other category. These settings are basically what they sound like General. In this section of the User Interface you shall find options for defining the Home Screen, Backlight setup and other options.

The General Settings consist of 2 pages, with 5 options on each one. Below you shall find explanations for each option on all available pages of this menu.

DefaultSc - Default Screen

As explained in the General User Interface Description, each section of the User Interface contains an ID number, seen on the top left corner of the screen next to its name. By defining the appropriate number, the screen will be the first one to appear once the unit is powered On.

Back-light

Every time a button is pressed or simply when the system is powered On, the backlight is being constantly controlled by the device. By selecting the appropriate option, the operator can define how the Back-Light behaves.

OnOffDimm
If the On option is selected, the Back-Light shall stay turned On until the device is powered Off.If the Off option is selected, the Back-Light shall remain turned Off during the entire units operation. (This can help save battery life)If the Dimm option is selected, each time a button is pressed, the Back-Light shall be turned On, after 10 seconds of inactivity it will dim to 50% and after another 10 seconds turn it self Off.

LCD Cont. - LCD Contrast

By choosing a value from 1 to 16 the operator can adjust the contrast of the display to suit his/hers needs. In some cases a darker look may be required, in others a softer feel. In any situation, the battery life has almost no effect by this option.

Touch EN - Touch Screen Enabled

The 128 x 64px Monochrome display, located on the Main Unit, is equipped with a Touch Sensor. By enabling the sensor the operator is given an additional input device which can be customized just like the rest of switches, buttons, pots or other input devices described in the Switch Settings section.

One useful application for this feature is to define the Touch Sensor to scroll through different Display Screens the User Interface provides by simply swiping the finger through it.

Buzzer

The Main Unit comes with an internal Buzzer, which can perform audio notifications while the unit is operating. By choosing different configurations the operator can control the priority of the audio notification or completely disable it. Below are the available options:

AllCriticalOff
When this option is selected, the buzzer shall issue notifications on every button press, every switch flip and naturally every alert or notification. If the Critical option is selected then the audio notifications shall only be presented for Critical alerts and notifications. No audio shall be present when pressing buttons or performing non critical tasks. With this option, the only sound the unit shall ever make is to play the intro melody. All other sound shall be disabled.

Vibrator

Within each OSRC Main Unit there is a relatively strong vibrator which can be enabled to notify the operator of critical alerts in case the audio notification is not clearly herd. By selecting the appropriate option the operator can define the functionality of the internal vibrator. Below you shall find all available options for this feature:

AllCriticalOff
When this option is selected, the vibrator shall issue notifications on every button press, every switch flip and naturally every alert or notification. If the Critical option is selected then the vibrator notifications shall only be presented for Critical alerts and notifications as well as Timer notifications. No vibration shall be present when pressing buttons or performing non critical tasks. With this option the vibrator is completely disabled.

Reset OSRC

If a Reset command is issued, the unit shall reset all Main configurations located within the Root Menu. Model settings and models them selves shall have no effect and will remain intact until reset or edited separately.

Have been working with electronics for as long as i can remember. Always enjoyed making something new and having the pleasure of seeing it work at the end. One of my latest and i must say, greatest creations is OSRC - Open Source Remote Control. Finally i can work on a single project, devote my full attention towards it and improve it as much as possible, with help from the RC and general Open Source community.
